The GENISIS Institute’s study "Social Impact Business" published in May 2009 identifies and pinpoints the core features of outstanding social businesses around the world as well as social projects with a large potential to be developed into social businesses.
In the first study phase, hundreds of projects were assessed on compliance with the criteria for social (impact) business: a social focus or purpose of the organization as well as a financially sustainable business model. Of these eligible projects, 25 representative case studies were selected. Half of these projects are located in developed nations.
This study conducted by the GENISIS Institute is the first composition of established and potential social businesses worldwide.
