Studying – How an idea turns into reality – A new course of studies at novel Humboldt-Viadrina School of Governance

A completely new course of studies has been launched at a novel university: To develop a social business concept up to its marketability? To develop and implement a new strategy for an NGO? To embed Corporate Social Responsibility within the company policy? To implement a citizen-oriented service in a municipality?
The new course of studies at Humboldt-Viadrina School of Governance imparts exactly the knowledge and skills which are necessary for that.
Starting from winter semester 2009/2010 junior managers of politics, economy and civil society get the chance of acquiring valuable additional qualification through the extra-occupational Master program of Public Policy at Humboldt-Viadrina School of Governance.

The Master of Public Policy picks up a concrete practical project from everyday work of the students: With the help of concrete projects the students learn how ideas can be turned into reality. Depending on professional interest the students design and implement projects in the public field or learn how to develop, implement and communicate specific policies.
The course was jointly launched by Humboldt-University Berlin and European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). Kofi Annan, Richard von Weizsäcker, Pascal Lamy, Mary Robinson and Ralf Dahrendorf, among others, are members of the advisory council of this novel institution.
